Annual Ford Lecture: Lessons Through Beauty
Location: Graham Auditorium
Registration required.
Emperor Jahangir (1605–1627), the fourth Mughal ruler of the Indian subcontinent, was a great patron of the arts. He brought together diverse cultural traditions at his court, where talented artists created beautiful illustrated books like the Gulistan of Sa’di, blending wisdom with stunning visuals.
Join us for a lecture by Navina Najat Haidar, curator of Islamic Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as she explores illustrations from the Gulistan of Sa’di in the Walters collection, along with other outstanding works created for Emperor Jahangir. Following the lecture and Q&A, we welcome you to enjoy a light reception in the Museum Cafe.
This lecture is supported by a fund established by John and Berthe Ford.
