Douriean Fletcher Educator Workshop

Saturday April 25

Other dates...

1:30 PM  –  4:30 PM

Registration is required.

How do our lives shape the art we create, and how can that art help us tell our own stories? In this hands-on workshop for PreK-12 educators, explore how lived experience, identity, and history can serve as powerful tools when creating art.

The afternoon will include a guided tour of Douriean Fletcher: Jewelry of the Afrofuture, considering how Fletcher draws on her own lived experience, identity, and history in her work. Together, we’ll discuss how artists use these influences as inspiration and how visual choices communicate meaning. After the tour, create an artwork informed by your own life!

Designed as both a learning experience and a chance to connect, this workshop offers time for making, conversation, and community with fellow educators, along with ideas and inspiration to bring back to your classroom.
